In Granite & Wind, a sheltered inlet reveals the quiet beauty of Georgian Bay on Lake Huron. In the foreground, a sunlit granite boulder rests at the water's edge, surrounded by native shoreline grasses, pickerelweed, and floating water lilies drifting gently across the calm surface. Beyond the protected cove, weathered granite islands and windswept pines stretch toward the horizon beneath broad summer skies, where passing clouds echo the steady breeze that gives the painting its name.

The contrast between the sheltered inlet and the open waters beyond captures the enduring character of Georgian Bay—a place where stillness and movement exist together. Ancient granite, shaped thousands of years ago by glaciers, stands unchanged while the wind, water, and sky continue their timeless rhythm across the bay.

Part of Pamela Hallock's Georgian Bay Collection, Granite & Wind celebrates one of Canada's most distinctive freshwater coastlines. It is an invitation to pause, breathe deeply, and experience the peaceful beauty of northern Ontario.

This original watercolor was painted with professional Winsor & Newton and Schmincke watercolor pigments on 200 lb. Winsor & Newton cold-press watercolor paper. The artwork is hand signed by the artist and professionally matted and framed by Valley Framing using 100% UV-protective, non-glare  glass. The cream archival mat and soft aqua-gray accent mat were carefully selected to become an extension of the artwork itself, enhancing the watercolor's light, color, and atmosphere. The painting is presented in a distressed whitewashed rubbed oak frame, creating a timeless presentation that complements the finished work.

Ideal for collectors of original Great Lakes landscape art and for lake homes, cottages, and nature-inspired interiors.
