Granite and Wind – Painting the Sky in Watercolor | Georgian Bay, Lake Huron
by Pamela Hallock on Feb 27, 2026
Granite that remains.
Wind that never does.
Exhale into the steady rhythm of the Bay.
Granite and Wind began with the sky — a quiet layering of light and space before the shoreline fully emerged. The first wash carries a softness that cannot be rushed, a moment when the horizon is only suggested and the paper still breathes.
Below is a short studio film of the sky unfolding.
This 22 x 30 watercolor was inspired by the wind-swept shoreline of Georgian Bay along Lake Huron — where white quartz-veined granite meets open water and moving reeds.
Limited edition prints of Granite and Wind will be available soon.
