From Oven to Easel: Baking Blueberry Pie and the Inspiration Behind “Three Pies Cooling”
There’s something timeless about the smell of a pie baking in the oven — buttery crust, bubbling fruit, and that moment when sweetness fills the kitchen. My mother taught me to make pies the old-fashioned way, with patience and love, and it’s still one of my favorite creative rituals.
In this short YouTube video, I’m baking one of my specialties — a golden, bubbling blueberry pie. Though this video doesn’t include painting, it’s deeply connected to my art. Baking often sparks my imagination, and the warm, nostalgic feelings of the kitchen became the heart of my watercolor painting, “Three Pies Cooling”
Just as I let colors blend softly on paper, I think of flavors blending in the oven — peach, apple, and blueberry together tell their own story. Each pie cools on the sill, sunlight catching the crust, fruit glistening, and the air filled with anticipation.
