“Snow Glow & Polar Bear Cubs | Fun Watercolor Painting Tutorial”
by Pamela Hallock on Nov 06, 2025
Grab your brushes and join me in the snow! 🐻❄️ In this Watercolor Polar Bear & Cubs – Part 4, we’re heading back to the Arctic to paint the second cub — a brave little explorer standing proudly beside Mom. Together, they shimmer under the northern light as we build layers of soft color and glowing snow.
We’ll play with brilliant Winsor & Newton pigments, both transparent and opaque, to capture that icy sparkle and cozy warmth that dance across the scene. These color shifts will later bring reflected light and subtle shadows to the entire polar bear family — it’s watercolor magic in motion!
✨ 🖌️ My Arctic Palette:
- High-Intensity Transparencies: New Gamboge, Winsor Red, Alizarin Crimson, Winsor Blue, Winsor Green, French Ultramarine
- Low-Intensity Transparencies: Brown Madder, Indigo, Payne’s Gray, Sap Green
- Low-Intensity Opaques: Yellow Ochre, Raw Sienna, Raw Umber, Burnt Sienna, Burnt Umber
- High-Intensity Opaques: Cadmium Yellow, Cadmium Orange, Cadmium Red, Vermilion, Cerulean Blue, Cobalt Blue
- We’ll layer glowing blues, whisper in some warm pinks and golds, and let the white of the paper shine through like Arctic sunlight. It’s the perfect blend of chill and cheer!
